A term employed to abbreviate the amount of energy equal to the amount of energy which can be acquired from a barrel of crude oil. There are 42 gallons (an estimate of 159 liters) in an oil barrel, which will contain an approximate of 1,700 kilowatt hours (kWh) or 5.8 million British Thermal Units (Mbtus).
