BASELINE
The guideline that is used as a ground for counting and comparing latest and past values. For instance, a trader wants to calculate his/her success rate in trading, the amount of money earned in his first week of trading can be used as a baseline to evaluate his improvements. In business, baselines serves with the same purpose.
