BELT AND SUSPENDERS
This term is used to explain safety and conservatism in loaning practices. In describing the careful bankers who request that loan procedures to be very strictly adhered to.
In general - belt and suspenders is used to hold up one’s pants which also mean having repetitious safety measures in place to remove all risk. The term can be complimentary, but it also can inform a ridicule of the overly cautious.
