Bank authorized to manage the assets and liabilities of an insolvent bank. The institution is responsible for continuing its operations until it finds a buyer or liquidates its assets. Delegated to either a national bank or a federal savings association, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) charters or appoints the bridge bank.
