Ethical barrier placed between several divisions of a company or financial institution to avoid conflict of interest. It exists to restrict access to nonpublic material information. The "wall" is enforced to prevent leakage of corporate inside information, which might affect the advice given to clients making investments, as well as to allow staff to take advantage of facts not yet known to the general public.
