CLASS A SHARES
Classification of common stock which may have more or lesser voting rights compared to Class B shares. Although these shares often have more voting rights than Class B shares, this is not always the case. Frequently, firms will attempt to disguise the disadvantages linked with holding shares with lower voting rights by describing those shares as Class A, and those with higher voting rights as Class B.
