COGNITIVE DISSONANCE
Unpleasant emotion emerging from incompatibility of two things including an individual’s attitudes, behavior, beliefs, and/or knowledge, or if a person has to choose between equally appealing or repulsive alternative. This can result to irrational decision making in reconciling an individual’s conflicting beliefs. This study is one of the most widely followed fields in social psychology.
