COST OF LABOR
Total wages paid to employees, cost of employee benefits, and payroll taxes an employer paid. Cost of labor is divided into two classifications: direct and indirect. Direct costs include salaries for workers creating a product such as workers on an assembly line. Indirect costs include support labor like employees maintaining factory equipment but do not operate the machines themselves.
