CURRENT INDEX VALUE
Most recently published interest rate used to determine the current payment index of an adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM). In the United States, the most generally used indexes include LIBOR, the Cost of Savings Index, and the Cost of Funds Index. Used by lending institutions, these are released either weekly or monthly. To compute the following month’s interest payment, get the sum of the current value and the spread indicated in the mortgage contract.
