Industry sensitive to the business cycle and its performance is tied to the overall economy. Companies in this industry produce durable and commodity-like goods including cars, chemicals, construction, heavy materials, raw materials, paper, and steel. These entities can deal with this volatility by imposing cuts to compensations and layoff in times of financial distress, and hiring en masse and giving bonuses in good times.
