EMERGENCY ECONOMIC STABILIZATION ACT OF 2008 - EESA
Federal bailout measure which helps in repairing damage from the subprime mortgage crisis. Enacted by the US Congress in 2008, it allowed the Treasury Department to purchase up to $700 billion of troubled assets and regain liquidity in financial markets. This was also called bailout bill since it saved banks from significant subprime mortgage losses.
