FINANCIAL ACCOUNT
Record of a nation’s balance of payments encompassing claims on or liabilities to non-residents and other countries relative to financial assets. Components of a financial account are direct investment, portfolio investment, and reserve assets, which are divided by sector. Claims by non-residents are considered liabilities; claims made against non-residents are assets. The financial account can also include claims on land.
