GINNIE MAE - GOVERNMENT NATIONAL MORTGAGE ASSOCIATION - GNMA
Government corporation within the US Housing Department and Urban Development (HUD), which aims to guarantee liquidity for these mortgages, and those insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), Rural Housing Administration (RHA), and the Veterans Administration (VA); and also carry the investors’ capital into the market for such loans so the issuers can issue more. Most mortgages consolidated as Ginnie Mae mortgage-backed securities (MBSs) are FHA-guaranteed, normally mortgages for first time and low-income borrowers.
