GRANT-IN-AID
Money transfer from the federal government to a state government, local government, or individual to finance a specific project or program. The federal government gets the fund from income tax revenues. It is a loan but need not to be repaid. However, it has to be spent based on the federal government’s guidelines for that certain grant.
