GULF TIGER
Colloquial term referring to the glittering and emirate of Dubai in the Middle East country of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Dubai laid its claim as a tiger economy after many years of having double-digit economic growth from the mid-1990s onwards. While oil exports serve as the initial foundation for its economy, Dubai has diversified into other areas of economic activity including construction, real estate, and trade and financial services. Also called Arab Gulf Tiger.
