INCOME ANNUITY
Annuity designed to immediately begin paying the income as soon as the policy starts. The underlying income units may be either in fixed or variable investments, and income payments may fluctuate in the long run. Normally, it is purchased with a lump sum payment, often by individuals who are at or close to retirement. Also called immediate annuity.
