INFLATION TARGETING
A central bank policy that encompasses meeting preset, publicly displayed targets for the annual inflation rate. A price index of a basket of consumer goods determines the target range. Along with inflation target and calendar dates used as performance gauges, it may also have established measures to be taken, which depends on how much the actual inflation rate varies from the target level. One example is trimming lending rates or adding liquidity to the economy.
