INTERNATIONAL BANKING FACILITY - IBF
A separate branch of a local bank or financial institution which allows depository institutions to offer deposit and loan services only to foreign clients and institutions. In the United States, foreign residents and institutions are exempted from reserve requirements mandated by the Federal Reserve, as well as some state and local income taxes. Such exemptions allow them to compete more efficiently for foreign deposits and loans business in the Eurocurrency.
