INTERNET BUBBLE
A sudden rise in equity markets caused by speculation into online-based companies, also called dotcoms. Way back late 1990s, it is often seen as a benchmark case of investors who abandoned fundamentals to seek the next big thing. Investors were anxious they would miss a huge opportunity as consumers turn to the internet. Venture companies and speculators placed money into internet startups in the 1990s, hoping to generate profit.
