ITRAXX LEVX INDEXES

A set of two tradable indexes on leveraged loans credit default swaps (CDSs), which comprises of 35 European companies that offers high liquid debt in the secondary market. The iTraxx LevX Senior Index entails senior loans while the iTraxx LevX Subordinated Index encompasses second-lien and third-lien loans.

The index has two pricing sets every day: mid-day price and end-of-day price. A league of investment banks including Morgan Stanley, Barclays Capital, and Lehman Brothers maintain the prices. Both indexes start with a primary coupon rate then it either trade up or trade down to show market activity. Released periodically, LevX indices display new debt offerings or company participation in the leveraged loan CDS markets.
