An American financier, philanthropist, and industrial organizer. Morgan was one of the world’s financial personalities prior to World War I decades and one of the fathers of corporate finance in the United States. Morgan began his career in 1857 at J.S. Morgan & Co., his father’s bank. He took it over in 1980 following his father’s death. Morgan reorganized many major railroads and boosted the General Electric, United States Steel, and International Harvester companies.
