LEGACY ASSET
Also known as troubled or toxic assets, these are real estate assets and securities that have been in the company’s book for such a long time. The original value of these assets have depreciated, to the point of the company’s loss. This term literally means lost its productivity, obsolete or outdated. If not handled properly, legacy assets become a liability to a firm.
These assets are considered a hindrance in a company in general. On the other hand, these can be sold at a reduced price in order to earn enough money, which can make the company afloat during recession.
