LENDER-PAID PRIVATE MORTGAGE INSURANCE
The private mortgage insurance that a mortgage lender pays for the borrower. In general, the mortgage insurance is mandatory if the loan to value (LTV) ratio is more than 80%. When lenders pay the private mortgage insurance on behalf of the borrower, it charge a higher interest rate. In other words, the borrower still pays the private mortgage insurance but in the form of a higher interest rate.
