LIQUIDITY EVENT
An event which allows the company’s original investors to cash out some or all their ownership shares; it is an exit strategy for an illiquid investment. It is normally used in connection with venture capital or private equity firms, which is intended to reach within a rational period of time, after making the investment.
Initial public offerings (IPOs) and firsthand acquisitions by other companies or private firms are the most commonly known liquidity events.
