LOWER OF COST AND MARKET METHOD
A rule indicated in the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) which states the inventory should be recorded at the lower of either the production cost, repurchasing cost, or market value. This method allows decrement in inventory value to be countered against recorded income.
