MAKE A MARKET
An action where a dealer should be ready, willing, and able at any time to buy and sell a certain security at the quoted bid and ask price. By doing so, it allows the brokerage to fill out customer orders easily and faster than through other brokerages and investors.
The dealer who does this action is called a specialist, if the security is listed; and a market maker if it is traded over-the-counter.
