MANDATORY CONVERTIBLE
A hybrid bond that should be converted into the underlying common stock, on or before the actual conversion or redemption date. One advantage of this security is it gives investors higher yields to recompense holders for the mandatory conversion structure. A publicly-traded company releases mandatory convertibles in order to raise the capital provided by issuing stock but would put a strain in the price of the existing shares.
