MARGIN OF SAFETY
An investing principle in which an investor only purchases securities when the market price is significantly below its value. In other words, when the market price is below the estimated intrinsic value, the margin of safety is the difference; this difference lets traders to place an investment with minimal downside risk. It does not guarantee a successful investment but gives room for error from an analyst’s judgment. Also, it provides a buffer against errors in calculation.
