MEDICARE

A US federal health program that subsidizes some healthcare expenses. An individual must meet at least one of these criteria: An individual aged 65 and above; US citizen or permanent legal resident for five years; disabled and has collected Social Security for at least two years; undergoing dialysis for kidney failure or who needs a kidney transplant; or has Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or Lou Gehrig's disease.

Medicare aids people when they may have perilous health problems but lacks the amount for treatment. It is less comprehensive than other healthcare program but a vital source of post-retirement healthcare.
