MODIFIED PAYOFF
Partial insurance reimbursement given to depositors of failed banks. Clients who have lost money beyond what is covered by Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) insurance can anticipate to receive a modified payoff. A dividend to uninsured depositors would be paid according to their valuation of what they could collect from liquidation. This was introduced in 1980s.
