A company, individual, or entity who lends mortgages. These bankers utilizes their own funds or funds taken from a depot lender to finance mortgages. After a mortgage is materialized, the banker might keep the mortgage in the portfolio or sell it to an investor. Also, the mortgage banker might use the mortgage or sell the usage rights to a financial institution. Its primary business is to gain the fees associated with the loan origin. Most mortgage banks do not hold the mortgage in portfolio.
