MULTIPLE COMPRESSION
A situation where a publicly-traded company’s stock trades at a given multiple end. Its stock price doesn’t go up or go down even on strong earnings. This leads to a reduction in the certain multiple (P/E ratio), given that nothing is fundamentally wrong with the firm. Compression of a company's multiple can be explained as the evaluation being called into inquiry.
