MUNICIPAL BOND
A debt security issued by a state, municipality, county, or local government to fund capital expenditures such as developing local infrastructure. Generally speaking, these bonds are exempted from federal taxes, and also from state and local taxes especially if an individual resides in the state where the bond is released.
