ONE-CHILD POLICY
This policy was first introduced in 1979 by the government of China. One-child policy was implemented as a method to control the population. This is a response to the rapid growth of the country. The policy mandated that couples from China’s Han majority may only have one child to lessen the social, environmental and economic problems associated with the country's rapidly growing population.
