PARENT COMPANY
A parent company is the one that controls other companies by holding an influential amount of voting stock. Parent companies may be larger firms that control one or more subsidiaries. A parent company may be either hands-on or hands-off with its subsidiaries, depending on the level of managerial control given to subsidiary managers.
