PERFORMANCE DRAG
A term that refers to the negative effect of transaction costs on the investment performance. It is most typically attributed to brokerage commissions, but there are many factors like bid-ask spreads, timing, and other opportunity costs that may cause the return of an investment to lag behind the return seen in the market.
