Rally is a period of rapid increase in stock prices. A rally happens when investors start purchasing one or more stocks in large amounts, which apparently shows a demand increase, this raising the prices. A rally may happened after a long decrease in price, signifying that a security has been oversold and the rally is likely to be sustained. Alternately, it may be a bear market rally, which is a brief respite between two downturns.
