SEPARATE ACCOUNT
Separate Account is defined in two ways. First, a separate account means an investment account that is managed privately via a brokerage or financial advisor. This account buys individual assets using pooled money. Second, a separate account is the payment made to an insurance company for the investment in securities. This meaning is used in the context of variable annuities and are kept separate from the general investment of the insurer.
