SETTLEMENT AGENT
Settlement Agent is also referred to as the ‘closing agent’ or ‘conveyancer’. It can mean one of two things. First, it may be the party in a transaction between a buyer and a seller. The settlement agent is the party that either transfers the securities to the buyer or transfers the cash to the seller. Second, a settlement agent may be a real estate professional. The function of the settlement agent here is to convey the selling interest from the buyer to the seller and to guarantee the regulated transfer of legal titles from the seller to the buyer via the closing transaction.
