STIPEND
Predetermined amount of money given regularly to help an individual offset his expenses. These are frequently provided to those who are ineligible to receive a regular salary for the duties they perform, including interns. A stipend is lower than a salary, but its recipient will be able to gain experience and knowledge in a certain field.
