SUNSET PROVISION
Condition in a statute or regulation providing an automatic repeal of the entire or certain parts of the law upon reaching a specific date. After the provision date, the law will no longer be in effect. Should the government want to prolong the length of time of that specific provision, the sunset provision date may be pushed back at any time before its expiration.
