TAX REFORM ACT OF 1993

Legislation seeking to reduce the federal budget deficit by increasing taxes and lowering expenditures. Enacted under the administration of former US President Bill Clinton, it basically revised the US tax system. Changes include adding the 36% tax bracket, increasing gasoline taxes, and imposing 10% additional tax on married couples with income above $250,000. It also raised taxes on Social Security benefits and removed the tax cap on Medicare.
