UNDERWATER MORTGAGE
Underwater Mortgage is a home purchase loan that has a higher balance than the free-market value of the home. It prevents a homeowner from selling a house unless he/she has the cash to pay the loss. In most cases, it also prevents the homeowner from refinancing.
