BANKS FOR COOPERATIVES
Created by the Farm Credit Act of 1933, these government sponsored and privately-owned regional banks carry out loans to rural utilities, supply and service cooperatives, and farmer-owned marketing. The loans are backed mainly by the sale of debt securities given by the Federal Farm Credit Bank. The banks for cooperatives belongs to the Federal Farm Credit System and undergoes regulation by the Farm Credit Administration.
