COMMODITY ETF
Exchange-traded fund trading physical commodities including agricultural goods, natural resources, and precious metals. Such funds may focus on a single commodity and held it in a physical storage, or may trade in futures contracts. Other ETFs trail the performance of a commodity index including individual commodities by combining physical storage and derivatives positions. Since many commodity ETFs use leverage through purchasing derivative contracts, those may have huge portions of uninvested cash, used in buying Treasury securities or other risk-free assets.
