CRYPTOCURRENCY

Digital or virtual form of currency which employs cryptography for security. One distinct feature of a cryptocurrency is a certain amount of this currency is produced by the entire system, making it immune to government interference or manipulation. Given the anonymous nature of the currency, it is suitable for several nefarious activities including money laundering and tax evasion. The first cryptocurrency was Bitcoin which was launched in 2009. There are at least 15 types of cryptocurrency, with Bitcoin as the most popular.
