CURRENCY DEPRECIATION
Decline in the value of a currency due to market forces. It occurs because of numerous factors including economic fundamentals, differences in interest rates, political instability, and risk aversion, among others. This can be beneficial to a country if it is orderly and gradual since it improves a country’s export competitiveness and its trade deficit through time. Otherwise, this may scare currency traders, making the currency to decline further.
