EARNINGS ANNOUNCEMENT
Official public statement of a firm’s profitability for a given time period, normally a quarter or a year. It is usually made on a specific date during earnings season before earnings estimates from equity analysts. When the firm has been earning leading up to the announcement, its share price will normally escalate following the release of the information.
