GATE PROVISION
Restriction put on a hedge fund restraining the amount of withdrawals from the fund during a specific redemption period. The hedge fund manager has the discretion to implement gate provision. It aims to prevent a run on the fund, which could possibly cripple its operations because huge number of withdrawals would press the manager to a huge sell off of positions.
