GAS GUZZLER TAX
Additional tax on the sale of card with poor fuel economy. The Energy Tax Act of 1978 created this tax to discourage production of inefficient vehicles. It regulates passenger cars, trucks, SUVs, and minivans. Sport-utility vehicles are exempt from this tax.
